Boxing gloves are already around in one variety or another almost since the start of boxing 3000 years in the past. The ancient Greeks helpful to wrap their hands in leather strips so that they can protect their hands. But there seemed to be no padding in these types of early boxing gloves, just leather to defend the boxer’s hands. When boxing finally reappeared inside late 1600s it was from the bare-knuckled variety.
