Overcoming the Fear of Making Videos

October 22, 2010 | Author: videomarket01 | Posted in Business

I’m Maria Andros. I’m also known as “The Video Marketing Queen.” I’ve been an online entrepreneur since 2007 and have learned to get my message out to my target audience on a global scale through internet video marketing.
I want to share with you how you too can leverage the power of viral video marketing, social media (e.g. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and Personal Branding. I’d like to share some video marketing tips to help bring your business to the next level.
But before going into that, I’ve received comments such as, “Maria, I would like to make videos but I’m afraid. I don’t know what to say and I don’t think I can make it like you can.”
I completely understand because I was also afraid to make videos. I was doing 20 takes at one time because I was critiquing it. But then, as the saying goes, “We’re our own worst critic.”
I will teach you some simple steps that will help you overcome this fear of making videos:
1. Change the way you move
When you start having doubts while making the video, move your body and reposition yourself. Do jumping jacks, do something. This will get you into a better mindset.
2. Monitor your posture and confidence
Align your spine. Push your shoulders up. If you do this, you will have a clear channel, you’re in the flow. So, you’ll say things more naturally. If you have bad posture now, that’s OK. But I want you to start practising having good posture.
3. Ask yourself what you are grateful for
Each of us has things to be grateful for. Do you have people who support you? Do you have a place to sleep at night? Reviewing these things will add an air of positive energy to your videos. Do this even if you’re having a bad day.
4. Set an intention
What do you want your viewers to get or experience from your videos? For me – I want people to have freedom in their personal and financial lives. To be more specific, I want my customers to have power, value and inspiration from what I teach. I want people to have more acceptance and love for themselves.
5. Change your state
Again, when you have doubts, change your state. Move your body so that you will have a better mindset.
6. Pretend you are talking to your best friend
Smile. Be yourself. Don’t be intimidated by the camera. Pretend you’re talking to a best friend or another family member. You’re not talking to the masses.
I would also recommend that you do 2 to 4 takes, maximum. If you’re not getting into the groove, just walk away. Do something else. Otherwise you’ll end up with 10 to 20 takes where your message is diluted.
It is perfectly normal to have a fear of making videos. When I was just starting, I didn’t even know what my product was. I had no clue what I was doing. Now that I share this with you, YOU will see that it’s not as difficult as you think.
You may have the occasional negative comment. But, if you’re striking an emotional chord in someone – that is positive. You have to stir people up. Don’t let that stop you from living your dream.
Making videos will help you become a confident person. The more you start overcoming fear of making videos, the more you’re going to feel better about yourself and the more you’re going to attract abundance. Your clients are going to come; there will be more joint ventures; more opportunities for speaking and more opportunities to meet some of the gurus… and to become one.
I’ve done the work. I’ve worked on my mindset. Now, you can do it too.
